False sense of rights keeps people from personal growth.
Duty is an action that is supposed to be done. A dutiful action has natural acceptance and is spontaneous. An action performed with understanding becomes duty. Understanding is the ultimate purpose of acquiring knowledge and gaining experience. Immediate outcome of understanding is honesty. Honesty arouses responsibility; and responsibility brings participation in higher order.
Apart from a human being’s responsibility toward the self, they have responsibility toward their families, society, nation, and the environment. Correspondingly all actions performed for the sustainability of the self, the society, the nation, the world and the environment are dutiful actions.
With practice and diligence, dutiful actions provide new insights into: the performance of actions, thereby adding to the efficiency and effectiveness and purposeof actions thereby adding new knowledge.
When everyone performs their duty, rights of everyone are automatically taken care of. Even so, there are some fundamental rights, such as right to free speech and religion. The notion of rights is for the benefit of the individual and is not meant in any way to disrespect or harm the other person. Misuse of rights for propaganda deprives a person benefit of those rights in adding new knowledge or increasing the efficiency or effectiveness of those righs. Therefore, any misuse of rights creates a mental block for the person against personal growth.
“Human happiness and moral duty are inseparably connected.”
(George Washington)
